Conad del tirreno
Conad del Tirreno (today Conad Nord Ovest – West Area) is a cooperative of over 400 supermarkets in three Italian regions (Tuscany, Sardinia, Lazio), with an annual turnover of over 2 billion euros
Studio Santi supported Conad Nord Ovest – Area Ovest in the development of a program for the construction of photovoltaic systems located on the roofs of the Ce.Di., the distribution centers located in Montopoli Valdarno (PI), Civitavecchia (RM) and Monastir (CA) , for a total of about 5 MWp incentivized in the Conto Energia and in self-consumption. Ce.Di.s are the most energy-intensive buildings in the tertiary sector, with huge chilled area for the storage and handling of fresh and frozen food. Basically, the entire photovoltaic production is self-consumed.
Studio Santi carried out the preliminary and executive design, the coordination of safety and the direction of the works for the construction of these systems, also taking care of obtaining all authorizations (Municipality, Civil Engineers, Fire Brigade, etc.) and incentives (GSE) as well as the practices for connection to the electricity grid.
The photovoltaic plant of Montopoli Valdarno (about 2.5 MWp) was the largest plant ever built with Solaredge optimizers, for the maximization of production and the correct management in case of fire, and has seen the installation of over 11 km of metal walkways on the roof, for safety and maintenance purpose.
Studio Santi provided Conad Nord Ovest – West Area with technical-scientific consultancy for the construction of the new logistics center (Ce.Di.) in Tarquinia (VT), with a surface area greater than 16,000 square meters, both for fresh products (0-8° C) and frozen, with the peculiarity for the areas dedicated to fresh products of not having internal divisions between spaces at different temperatures, in order to minimize the handling times of goods. Studio Santi built a dynamic energy model of the building+plants system, simulating the different options for the energy system at the service of the new Ce-Di. and identifying the optimal Energy System Design. Studio Santi then supervised the construction of the Ce.Di., that is – after more than one year of operation – the most efficient in Europe and among the most efficient in the world.
Studio Santi has conceived and developed with UniCredit Project Finance and Conad Nord Ovest – West Area the first bank project financing ever applied in Europe to the final uses of energy. Thanks to this off-balance energy efficiency financing model, 19 supermarkets of the Conad West Area sales network were upgraded through EPC contracts, investing over 35 million euros and halving energy consumption.
