Innovation in energy
Innovation is the key to the energy transition and the fight against climate change. The mission of Studio Santi – an independent consulting engineering and management boutique specialized in energy – is to contribute to the sustainability of organizations by providing them with a broad spectrum of multidisciplinary skills, focused on innovation. The services of Studio are focused on a strong ability to analyze, model and optimize energy systems, with the use of digital data-science techniques and the use of advanced software and algorithms.
The Studio Santi team now has 17 professionals in its organization chart and operates through an integrated Quality (ISO 9001), Environment (ISO 14001) and Energy (ISO 50001) Management System, certified by IMQ-CSQ.

We plan for a better future
Studio Santi has provided professional services for the construction of over 600 MW of renewable energy plants (90MW solar, 190MW wind, 160MW biomass, 40MW biogas, 140MW hydroelectric) and energy efficiency interventions for over 3 million cubic meters of buildings of various kinds (museums, data centers, logistics centers, airport terminals, offices, supermarkets, schools).
As a lender engineer, Studio Santi is a qualified technical advisor of UniCredit Project Finance and has conceived and coordinated the first Italian project financing for energy efficiency in the supermarket sector, allowing to invest over 60 million euros in energy upgrades.
A team of Studio Santi is permanently dedicated to providing GSE with technical-administrative support for the management of incentive requests “Conto Termico”; from 2017 it has worked over 43,000 files.
Energy System Designers
For the development of the Fiumicino international airport, Studio Santi took care of the most complex energy engineering services, from the dynamic energy models of the new T3 and T1 terminals for compliance with the EIA prescriptions on nearly zero energy buildings to the reconfiguration of the electricity networks MT airport with the cogeneration system in stand-alone emergency; from the Energy System Design of the airport development in the East, with doubling of volumes, surfaces and number of passengers per year (from 40 to 80 million), to the design of the energy and fire-fighting systems for the new glass facade of T3 designed by Italian designer Mario Bellini, to finish the glare studies of all the photovoltaic systems present at the airport, on the roofs of buildings and in the areas along the runways.

Applied research and continuous innovation
Research & Innovation (R&I) are the permanent center of gravity of the activity of Studio Santi, which has conceived and coordinated large innovative energy engineering projects, such as the rehabilitation by in-situ cleaning and coating of offshore pipelines affected by bacterial internal corrosion the construction of new low environmental impact Bulk Handling Systems for some Italian thermoelectric plants.
Studio Santi won the “NexTower” international competition launched by ENAV for the design of the new Italian control towers and provided on-site verification services for the design of the new control tower at Milan Linate airport.
As technical-scientific advisor, Studio Santi supported the tuning and development of new energy technologies, including: a new photovoltaic concentration system with cogeneration, a new Thermal Energy Storage system, a new concept of Adiabatic CAES with double-stage thermal storage, a new high-efficiency medium-sized wind turbine.
As evidence of its attention to R&I, Studio Santi was commissioned by a prestigious scientific body such as the European Space Agency (ESA-ESRIN) to assert its sustainability path in relation to the “20-20-20” policy.
The university roots
The founder and director of Studio Santi is Federico Santi, who has been teaching “Models of analysis of energy systems” for 16 years for the master’s degree course in energy engineering at the University of Rome Sapienza. Author of more than 60 technical-scientific publications, chairman/invited speaker in 24 international conferences, in 9 countries/4 continents, supervisor of over 50 master’s degree theses in energy engineering, Federico Santi is the Energy Manager of the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of Rome and was the Energy Manager of many national companies such as ENAV and SOGEI.
